In 1652, Jan van Riebeeck planted the first vines in the Cape. At the foot of Table Mountain you can drive along wonderful roads bordered by the vineyards. In Napoleon’s time the wines of Constantia were already in high demand. The climate is predominantly cool, and during hot summer days Constantia enjoys the cool shade of Table Mountain. The wines grow more slowly in this region but distinguish themselves by their high quality. |
