Yellowwood Tree - The national tree in South Africa - Cape Town

The Yellowwood tree family has been present in Africa for more than 100 million years. In South Africa they are found on Table Mountain, along the southern and eastern Cape coastlines, in the ravines of the Drakensberg and the Soutpansberg, and in the Northern Province.
 
The maximum height of a Yellowwood tree growing in a sheltered area, like a forest, is about 35 to 45 meters and the trunk can be up to 3 meters in diameter. In an unsheltered area, the trees are mostly bushy and short.
