South Africa's floral wealth is astounding. Many small parks in South Africa support more plant species than the entire British Isles. Nowhere is this blessing of nature more evident than in the Cape, home to the smallest and richest of the world's six floral kingdoms. More than 8,500 species of plants grow in the province, of which 5,000 are endemic. Much of the Cape vegetation consists of fynbos, hardy, thin-leaved plants ideally suited to the Cape environment. Proteas, including the magnificent king protea, are examples of fynbos.
The South African animal kingdom is equally interesting. The world-renowned Kruger National Park is situated in the north of the country. Here you will discover the variety of wild animals. In this category we introduce you to different kinds of animals that are native to South Africa.
