The new South African provinces - South Africa - Cape Town

 

South Africa – a world in a single country. The beauty of South Africa reveals itself in the various contrasts. Fertile green land  alternates between desert landscapes, massive mountain ranges and long sandy beaches.

You will find all this wealth in the new provinces, which where renamed with the official end of the Apartheid era in 1994.

 

The new provinces and their capitals are as follow:

 

  • Eastern Cape with Bisho
  • Free State with Bloemfontein
  • Gauteng with Johannesburg
  • Kwazulu-Natal with Pietermaritzburg
  • Limpopo with Polokwane
  • Mpumalanga with Nelspruit
  • North-West with Mafikeng
  • Western Cape with Cape Town

 

 

The South African Capital is Pretoria in the province of Gauteng.
