Papyrus Lodge
Set on a tranquil lake, near Stellenbosch, in the heart of the Cape Winelands, Papyrus Lodge offers a get-away experience like no other.
Sweeping views over vineyards and the Helderberg mountains, warm evenings and African sunsets are just part of the natural splendour you will find at Papyrus Lodge.
Choose from beautiful and spacious suites in the Main Lodge, with big terraces leading into the garden or stylish and romantic chalets, built on stilts on the waterside.
Cool down in the private, fresh-water lake, try a spot of fishing, row out onto the water or enjoy a ride on a pedal boat, experience the birdlife, or simply relax at the water's edge.
Papyrus Lodge offers two types of accommodation:
Papyrus Lodge Luxury Chalets
These romantic wooden Chalets are built on stilts in the water. Only connected with a small bridge to the land you find yourself in your own private little world.
Here you can unwind an relax. Sorrounded by water, with a stunning view over the vineyards to the Helderberg mountain range on one side and to Table Mountain on the other side.
Enjoy the spectacular sunsets and listen to the lapping water of the lake. Each chalet sleeps two people in a one-roomed en-suite, and is equipped with an open plan kitchenette.
Papyrus Lodge Superior Suites
The main Lodge, built on land in the old cape colonial style, houses 4 spacious superior suites each with own entrance and private covered veranda. Comfortable cane chairs invite you to sit and enjoy the sweeping views over the lake and towards Table Mountain. Beautifully decorated, luxury 2 roomed suites for 2 persons sharing with a fully equipped kitchenette. Family suites are available to accommodate 1 or 2 children sharing with the parents.
Papyrus Lodge is a perfect little paradise, providing comfort peace and beauty. Our guest lodge is set on 12 hectares private land a delightful garden and its own lake for swimming, fishing or rowing. Rowing boats are free for use for our guests. The lake is fed with fresh water from the nearby Helderberg.
For the birdwatchers there is a wonderful and immense variety of different birds to be spotted on and around the lake. For the little ones we have created a playground with trampoline where they can enjoy themselves without disturbing the guests that are looking for tranquility.
Breakfasts are served on the garden terrace overlooking the garden and the lake or in the sunny breakfast room. Let yourself be spoilt by the sumptious breakfast buffet.
The chalets and the suites are equipped with a small kitchenette to prepare light meals. An excellent restaurant is adjacent and many more are in the area.
The chalets and suites have been renovated and newly decorated this year and we are proud of providing very high quality and standards. Papyrus combines unspoilt nature, South African lifestyle and Swiss hospitality.
