Chapman's Peak Information:
Chapman’s Peak Drive is seen as one of the most spectacular coastal roads in South Africa. You will reach this road by travelling from Cape Town towards Hout Bay. The road will lead directly to Chapman’s Peak. This Drive has breathtaking views of the oceans and the low-lying rock formations. It is steep and winds to the top of Chapman’s Peak until it drops to sea level again in Noordhoek. Chapman’s Peak Drive was built 1915 - 1922 and is as a bold masterpiece of road engineering and construction. After four years of renovation the road was re-opened to traffic in 2004. Rock falls had caused deaths and severe injuries resulting in the road being closed. Today, R20 is charged to get onto the road and this helps to fund the upgrade and allows for future maintenance.
