The Addo Elephant National Park - The Future

The plan is that the Addo Elephant National Park will be extended up until 2010.  By that time it should have reached the coast of the Eastern Cape.

This area will comprise 340 000 ha of terrestrial zone and 80 000 ha of marine zone, which will include a few of the Islands in Algoa Bay, including various seabirds and Penguins.

The Park would then include 5 out of the 7 Vegetation zones which can be found in South Africa.

Ultimately the park will be able to support more than 2500 Elephants.

The Park will also be the first in the world to comprise the Big 7 in one National Park.

These include the Elephant, Buffalo, Rhinoceros, Leopard, Lion, Great White Shark and the Southern Right Whale.
