Cape Town - The Two Oceans Aquarium - South Africa
This Aquarium has, for the most part, been newly built for the cost of R35 million.
It roughly covers an area of about 5000m².
A part of the old building consists of the former “Millwright building”, a national monument. The name “Two Oceans” implies that you can admire the underwater world of both oceans – the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean – which merge at the Cape.
Since 1994 it is possible to view fishes and marine mammals of all kinds at the Aquarium. You will even be able to see sharks and rays. A tunnel, which leads through the shark pool, is a special attraction. Three times a day, courageous visitors are given the opportunity to swim with the sharks.
Another interesting offer is a visit to the pool during feeding hours. Additional aquariums show a variety of morays, giant crabs, starfishes, and marine turtles. Low- and high tide are simulated in some of the pools.

Beside the nursing-station for fishes, there is another attraction – the living dead. At first it sounds scary, but it all just revolves around “living fossils”, petrified starfishes, mussels, etc. Here you can learn everything about the history of evolution.
For all of you who feel hungry after the exploration of the underwater world, you will be catered for at the Two Oceans Restaurant.
