DE OUDE DROSTDY MUSEUM

In 1804 the region of Tulbagh was established.  The Drostdy was offically opened in 1806 by Architect Louis Michael Thibault. In 1822 the Headquarters of the Magistrate moved to Worcester, and the Drostdy became privately owned.

GROOT CONSTANTIA MANOR HOUSE AND WINE MUSEUM

Groot Constantia is one of the oldest Wine Cellars in South Africa.  The Manor House is a perfect example of the Dutch Style Architecture of the Cape.

 

Simon van der Stel made this area into one of the richest Wine Regions.  He established Groot Constantia (named after his wife) and he lived here until he died in 1712.
