Two Wine Farms (forming one unit) close to Cape Town in South Africa for sale

Two Export Fruit Farms (mainly table grapes) with the potential for the cultivation of medicinal plants

The company holding (two wine and fruit farms) of which all immovable and movable assets are for sale controls:

Huge land reserves of which 270ha are in full production which creates an export income of approximately R20, 000 000.00. The return on capital amounts to approximately 10%. The profit for both farms amounts to between 7.5 and 8.0 Million Rand. Both wine farms not only have big land reserves but also crucial for South Africa more than substantial water rights. The farms are managed over years by a very experienced and reliable team. All necessary improvements like storage facilities (under cooling) full and semi automatic packaging units, accommodation for management and permanent labor up to a farm school, agricultural implements including pumps, pump stations and other irrigation installation are in existence and fully paid for. At present the turnover is based on the sale of table grapes, plums, pears, red wine grapes, cutting from pruning (the farm is a KWV reference) wine farm and devils claw. The extension of the cultivation of wine grapes would make the establishment of a winery viable in addition are the soil and climatic conditions very suitable for the cultivation of medicinal plants. The results of the cultivation up to date shown that this production line could be very profitable, especially if the processing would be done at the farm.

Valuations, cultivation maps, cultivation results, balance sheets and customer list can be provided for due diligence provided a letter of intent and confidentiality declaration will be signed. The purchasing price will also be revealed by the start of purchasing negotiations. All assets are vested in two farms which can also be purchased individually, it is important to note that a cooperation agreement over the use of equipment is in place.

Investment for the future commercial production farms in South Africa for both fruits and medicinal plants, all for the export market.

Lying within the subtropical belt of high pressure, South Africa has plenty of sunshine and settled weather. It has distinct summer, winter and all year rainfall regions and four distinct seasons with warm summers and cool winters. Oceans on three sides have a moderating influence on its climate. Climate temperatures are determined by latitude, altitude and ocean currents. South Africa has four main climate regions: the hot and humid eastern coast, the dry western coast, the Karoo, which has occasional light rainfall, and the northeastern central territory, which receives extensive rainfall.

The surface is approximately 1,2 million km² of which 10% is arable land. A mountainous escarpment divides the central plateau from coastal plains, which makes the later very suitable for diversified farming. The climate in this region leads in summer time to moisture precipitation from Dew and Fog.

The vegetation, also in commercial farming, is dependant on water supply; therefore dams have been build all over to subsidies for the high evaporation factor. Southern Africa is geological and evolutionary very old (Fossils from Dinosaurs to the evidence of the development of men) and did not went through the extreme climate changes as the northern hemisphere (ice times). The flora is in evolutionary terms extremely old. Over 30 000 of higher plants exist. The Cape Floral Kingdom alone has nearly 9 000 species and is the most diverse temperate flora on earth. This biodiversity is the basis for the existence of approximately 3 000 species of plants with medicinal properties, of which some 350 species are the most commonly traded for herbal medicines. The properties ranging from stomachica over analgetica to immune boostering, anticancer and antiobesity.

Pilot studies have provided the know how for the commercial cultivation.

There is a growing interest in natural medicines as a source of new commercial products. The use of medicinal plants are something of the future not of the past. The professional harvesting of the natural growing devils claw threatens the existence of the plant. The annul harvest of 600 tons proofs the interest in this product. The commercial cultivation of the plant will become more and more profitable as the harvesting of the plants in the wild will be prohibited.

South Africa as a producer of Table Grapes and Tree Fruit at the top end of the range finds itself due to the low cost structure (wages, water, electricity) and climatic conditions on one hand and the income in hard currency (€, $, £, ¥) on the other hand in a unique position for effective farming. South African Table Grapes and Tree Fruits fulfill highest expectations and have their position well established in the world markets. The supply covers by far not the demand. This leads to a very positive distribution situation and the logical need for production expansion, which is only possible if the available land reserves have a secure water supply.
